MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification is a flagship Government of India initiative under the Ministry of MSME. It certifies businesses for Zero Defect — meaning consistently high-quality products — and Zero Effect — meaning minimal environmental impact. ZED Certification helps MSMEs build quality systems, improve productivity, reduce wastage, and enhance competitiveness in domestic and global markets.
All MSMEs registered on the Udyam Registration Portal are eligible to apply for ZED Certification. The scheme comes in three progressive levels — Bronze, Silver, and Gold — each with increasing requirements and benefits. Bronze Certification can be completed within 24 hours subject to document submission and compliance.

Any MSME registered on the Udyam Registration Portal can apply for ZED Certification regardless of sector, size, or location. The scheme is open to manufacturing and service MSMEs alike.
